Conceição Abreu

Plastic artist and researcher, was born in 1961, Portugal, where he now lives and works.

In 2012 he finishes his Masters in Multimedia Art – Photography, at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon. In 2010 (after Bachelor’s degree completed in 1989) he completed the Degree in Dance of the School of Dance, of the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon. In 2000 he completed the Individual Painting Project, and in 1998 the Complete Painting Studies at the Ar. Co School, Lisbon. In 1981, he finished his Bachelor of Arts in Graphic and Interior Design at IADE, Lisbon.

She exhibited individually in 2013, Entretempos, at Galeria Caroline Pagès, Lisbon. In 2011 Absence (II), at the Museum of Image in Braga, and in 2010 Absence (I), at the National Museum of Natural History (Sala do Veado). In 2009, Ties, at Galeria Diferença in Lisbon, and in 2008, at the Museu do Traje in Lisbon, the video installation Attached. In 2013 participated in the 14th International Tapestry Triennal, Lódz (Poland), as official representative of Portugal in the Exhibition-Contest.

In 2008, he was awarded the Photography Prize, at the 1st International Biennial of Montijo, with the photograph Attach. The year 2007 marks the beginning of his collaboration with his current gallery Caroline Pagès, in Lisbon, with the solo exhibition Within.
